Game Science’s upcoming action RPG, Black Myth: Wukong, has recently been turning heads after the latest trailer – showcasing the various bosses on offer – dropped, and it’s set to be the Soulslike event of the year after Elden Ring’s anticipated DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. Whispers of the game’s difficulty, rumored to be less demanding than other genre titles, are being passed alongside talk of a packed roster boasting over 160 enemy types and over 80 bosses.

Even though a handful of the gaming community forgot Black Myth existed, confusing the title with last year’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the game’s prolonged development has only built up the hype for its release. Not only that, the easier combat seemingly on offer has convinced gamers who are not Souls fans to take an interest.

Black Myth: Wukong’s More Forgiving Combat Could Birth A New Wave Of Souls Fans

Leaker, @ignusthewise, on X recently broke alleged details from Black Myth: Wukong, specifying the action RPG would have New Game+ at launch, feature multiple endings, and debut 160+ enemy types and 80+ bosses – some of which were highlighted in the fantastic gameplay trailer.

A final detail stated Black Myth’s difficulty was expected to be “slightly easier than Soulsborne games”, which piqued the curiosity of the gaming community. Games filed under the Soulslike or Soulsborne genre are notorious for hosting punishing battles against unforgiving foes, challenging even the most experienced gamer. Therefore, Black Myth being a lighter strain was music to many gamers’ ears.

One user shared interest in the game after this news broke, admitting to not being a Souls player, saying “Not a souls player but really interested in this game, so “slightly easier than souls games” feels good to hear.” Another onlooker found the game appealing with knowledge of a lighter difficulty, saying “Easier than Souls, now I’m definitely playing!”

Additionally, Black Myth could also serve as a gateway for the initiated to get their first taste of a Soulslike game without being shown a demotivating death streak. More users commented on the game’s alleged difficulty, stating “Slightly easier better for me to get into souls type games.”

Of course, several gamers who signed up for a true-to-form Soulslike were concerned about the easier ride, expressing their hope for difficulty options so they could make gameplay harder if desired. However, a majority were relieved to hear their time with Sun Wukong was going to be less demanding.
